Dr. Brenda Hebner

Biography

A native of Texas, Dr. Hebner earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural development from Texas A&M University. She continued her education at the University of Texas Arlington, where she received two Master of Education degrees—one in curriculum and instruction and another in educational leadership and policy studies. She later earned a Doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University, with research focused on providing high-quality instructional practices for all students, particularly in reading.

Dr. Hebner brings a wealth of experience to her new role, shaped by both her professional background and her life as a military spouse and mother of former DoDEA students. She began her teaching career in 1999 as a fifth-grade bilingual teacher in Houston. Over the years, she has taught in eight school districts across California, Alaska, Brussels, Texas, Virginia, and Germany, including a previous assignment at Vogelweh. Her experience spans grades 1–5, and she has also served as a reading specialist, instructional coach, and assistant principal in Northern Virginia.

Dr. Hebner returned to DoDEA in 2023, teaching first grade at Kaiserslautern Elementary School. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, she has been active in community and school leadership roles, including serving as a Continuous School Improvement Lead and participating in curriculum and textbook selection committees. She has also been a PTA leader and an Air Force Key Spouse.

Dr. Hebner is joined by her husband, Col. Charles Hebner, U.S. Air Force, and their two children, both alumni of Texas A&M University.
