Career Day: A Capstone Event for Career Studies at Vogelweh Elementary

As one of the school counselors at Vogelweh Elementary, I’m proud to say that Career Day is more than just an event — it’s the exciting culmination of a year’s worth of career education efforts.
Along with my colleague Jason Greve, we organized this year’s event to bring a wide variety of professionals right to our students, from preschool through fifth grade. Watching the kids rotate through stations in the commons, playground, and front driveway, engaging with hands-on demonstrations and asking thoughtful questions, was truly inspiring.
We featured careers ranging from emergency services and engineering to the arts and public service. One of the highlights was welcoming military personnel who shared insights about roles in logistics, aviation, medical fields, and engineering, showing our students how broad and diverse military careers can be.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the presenters and parents who made this day possible. Your enthusiasm and willingness to share your experiences had a real impact on our students and our school community.
Career Day is our yearly capstone event that not only sparks curiosity but also helps our students see how their education connects to real-world careers. It’s a celebration of possibility, learning, and the power of community.
