KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Vogelweh Elementary School lit up the night Jan. 23 as students gathered for the school’s annual “Light Up the Night with Kindness” Glow-in-the-Dark Dance, the culminating celebration of Kindness Month.

Sponsored by school counselors Nicole Flores and Jason Greve in partnership with the Vogelweh Elementary PTSA, the event brought students together for an evening of music, movement, and meaningful connection. Glow sticks, neon accessories, and colorful lighting transformed the space into a vibrant celebration of kindness, friendship, and school spirit.

In the weeks leading up to the dance, Vogelweh Elementary hosted a Kindness Spirit Week, encouraging students to practice positive actions through themed days and schoolwide activities. The effort helped build excitement for the event while reinforcing the school’s commitment to social-emotional learning and a caring school culture.

The event was supported by student volunteers from the Kaiserslautern Middle School National Junior Honor Society and the Kaiserslautern High School JROTC, who assisted with setup, greeted families, and helped ensure the evening ran smoothly. Their involvement added a strong sense of teamwork and community partnership.

One student summed up the excitement simply: “Glow dance rocks!”

“This event is about creating joyful connections while highlighting the importance of belonging and compassion,” the school counseling team shared. “We love bringing the school community together to show kindness and dance the night away.”

The annual glow-in-the-dark dance continues to reflect Vogelweh Elementary School’s dedication to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued.
